In 2017, I spent my summer in Baltimore, Maryland as a Sports Marketing intern for Under Armour's Run category. As an intern, I was given multiple projects as well as daily responsibilities that deepened my knowledge of the sports marketing industry for a major retail brand. I was able to see how a Marketing department functions internally, and how category teams work together to accomplish goals and solve problems. I played a part in multiple product launches that involved social media strategy and campaigns. Take a look at my portfolio page to see one of the projects I completed for the Run category’s brand via social media platforms.
I have also interned in the Strategic Communications and Events department for Auburn Athletics. For Strategic Communications, I was responsible for monthly social media report cards, which tracked social media growth and trends for various Auburn athletic teams. Analytics were then presented to the Sports Information Director for each sport with content and posting recommendations. I also captured live content at sporting events for social media platforms. This internship was special to me because I was doing what I love for my own school and team. Sports Media Relations experience at Auburn taught me technical skills in InDesign and Photoshop, as well as relationship building and effective communication. As a part of the events team, I am responsible for all pre-game set-up and in-game operations. This experience has brought a much different perspective to the sideline than media relations. My role of coverage and content creation has become customer service and facilitation. In either position, there is no place I would rather be than behind the scenes. At the end of the day, I know I am doing my part to create the best fan experience possible.
Well-rounded work expereince in the sports industry .
